How Plastic Bottles Are Made Into Recycled Bags
Plastic bottles are one of the biggest problems facing the earth's vitality. 230 bottles are consumed each year by Americans alone and sent to landfills. The bottles do not decompose and induce toxic elements into the earth. Fortunately, recycled bags can be manufactured with the remains of these petroleum based bottles. By recycling plastic bottles, you provide our company with the durable and quality materials used to manufacture eco-friendly bags which are recycled.
First, the bottles are stripped of their visual advertising, resulting in a more pure material in which to craft our reusable green bags. The bottles are then sent to a processing plant in which they begin their journey from drinking container to holding container. Each bale of recycled plastic bottles yields 350 yards of fabric for green bags. The material in which the bags are constructed are called PET (PolyEthylene Therephthalate) for the chemists, and feel more like a think canvas as opposed to plastic.
The plastic bottles are ground into PET flakes which produce the raw material needed to manufacture eco-friendly green bags. After grinding the bottles, the flakes are separated from all of the impurities found in plastic bottles and made into PET chips. Through a process called de-polymerizing and re-polymerizing, the finished product can be made into yarn.
From there, the different sizes of yarn are woven into the recycled bags. The different sizes of yarn are then put on automatic looms and made into various consistencies of eco-friendly bags. Each yard of fabric keeps harmful plastic bottles that do not decompose from entering the landfills. Simply by recycling plastic bottles laying around the house, you are not only protecting the environment and living a greener lifestyle, but you are supplying businesses with raw materials used to craft items.
By recycling plastic bottles and utilizing the technology that can easily morph these bottles into usable raw materials, you are supplying green businesses with the necessary means to slow the usage of the earth's natural resources. It is estimated that only 30% of the plastic bottles consumed in the U.S. are recycled. Why not find a collection center near you and help us and other companies like us do our part in limiting the harmful effects that business has on Mother Earth.
